National Storytelling Week

Next week is National Storytelling Week across the country, and despite our strange circumstances, we would love our school community to share some stories with each other!

It would be wonderful if at some point next week, you and your children could take a picture of yourselves sharing a story.  This could be virtually with a grandparent or friend via technology, or it could be in an unusual place in your own home.  You could even share a story with one of your pets, or don a special costume for the occasion!

Please email any pictures you do have to your class teacher via the class email address – and if you are happy for your pictures to be published on our website or Facebook page, please let us know.

At some point during the week, your child will also be invited to take part in an extra Google Meet with their teacher to share a story with their class – your child’s teacher will let them know when this will be during one of their regular Google Meets.

I would like to recommend the following website – https://blog.learningresources.co.uk/simple-storytelling-tips

This is a short blog with some excellent tips for you to get the most out of storytelling with your children.

Additionally, the Society for Storytelling‘s website can be found here.

Please email your child’s teacher if you have any further questions – and a big thankyou for all the work you are doing to help your child continue reading and storytelling during this time.
