Summer Reading Challenge 2021

The Reading Agency‘s Summer Reading Challenge is underway! Launching on 10th July, this is the UK’s biggest annual reading promotion for children aged 4 to 11. It is delivered locally by local libraries with online services also available.

How the Challenge works:

· Children sign up through their local library and receive a Wild World Heroes collector poster

· Children set a reading goal and borrow and read library books of their own choice during the summer, collecting special stickers to complete their poster and extra incentives along the way

· Library staff are on hand to support, hand out activity sheets and promote online events

· Children who complete the Challenge are presented with a certificate and a medal

· The official Challenge website, hosts digital rewards, author videos, games and more for children to enjoy all summer

How do children sign up?

We are hoping that as many children as possible sign up this year and come into a library. Talking to staff and being able to choose and pick up books helps with engagement and means we can give the children their stickers in person and encourage them to take out more books.

Alternatively, families can use our online form that allows children to join our virtual library, register for the Summer Reading Challenge and access e-books from home here: Library joining form

Children can still pick up a pack from their local library or they can access the Reading Agencies digital platform for incentives and activities.
